What We Treat
Disorders that we treat at our mental health hospital
All admissions decisions at our inpatient care facility are made on an individual basis following a thorough review of each young person’s treatment history, symptoms, needs, and goals.
In general, we treat young people who have been dealing with challenges such as the following:
- Anxiety disorders
- Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Bipolar disorder
- Intellectual developmental disabilities
- Intermittent explosive disorder (IED)
- Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
- Paraphilias
- Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Reactive attachment disorder (RAD)
- Sexually maladaptive behaviors
Please note that this is not a comprehensive list of all the challenges or concerns for which a young person can receive treatment at Southwood Psychiatric Hospital. Also, although we provide specialized services for certain adolescents who have been exhibiting sexually maladaptive behaviors, we are not able to admit any young people who have been convicted of sexual offenses or any other felonies.
If at any point prior to admission we determine that our inpatient services or residential programs are not the right fit for an adolescent, we will work with the family to make a referral to a more appropriate provider. Our goal is always to identify the types and levels of care that will best meet the unique needs of each adolescent.
To determine if our mental health hospital is the ideal environment for your child, please contact us at your earliest convenience. A member of our team is available 24/7 to answer your questions and help you make the most informed decisions for your child and your family.
